Abstract

This project, submitted to FAPESP, intends on conducting library research in Italy, Portugal and Spain, in order to deepen the knowledge of works of art acquired for the collection of the National Museum of Fine Arts - NMFA (MNBA) of Rio de Janeiro, in the late nineteenth century and early decades of the twentieth century. The survey will cover the history of prominent foreign artists, among Portuguese, Italians, Spaniards and Latin Americans, whose works are present in the collection of the museum, and its relationship with the context of the Brazilian artistic period.
