Abstract

We propose in this project to understand the new relationships between the three planes (Economic, Political and Social) that make up the whole responsible for the reproduction of society, and hence (re) production of space. "Projeto Nova Luz" was the chosen case for understanding the production of urban space as inseparable from motion reproduction of social relations (Lefebvre, 1973). According to the theories discussed in this project, the urban planning today points to a kind of urbanization guided by a new relationship between the State and Capital. It is for this project to investigate this new relationship and how it materializes in the operations of the urban center of the metropolis of São Paulo. The contradictions of the whole case indicates wider paths to understanding the production and reproduction of urban space. (AU)
