Abstract

The waste recycling sheds have been, as a rule, created from abandoned warehouses, lent by the Municipal Government and they have been unable to sustain such economic activity or provide social integration of their workers. This research project aims to study the organization of work of the collectors and the activities of receiving, sorting, processing and marketing of recyclable solid waste in the municipalities of Presidente Epitácio and Regent Feijó. Besides, the project´s intention is to analyze the physical infrastructure aimed at these activities and for the other activities that usually happen in these buildings Therefore, some guidelines for building a new paradigm sheds sorting (CISSA - Center of Social Integration and Environmental Sustainability) can be organized. For this, it will conducted interviews with stakeholders: municipal managers and the recycling waste collectors, for obtaining the information needed, as well as some field surveys to identify the processes that take place in existing warehouses and its current uses. Will be raised the main public policies that contextualize such activities. Therefore, will be possible to understand the current model and to search for other, more contemporary, more efficient and more consistent with the actuals social, environmental and economic demands.
