Abstract

In human medicine the elastography has been used mainly for the identification and differentiation of mammary neoplasms diagnosis of prostatic tumors, monitoring of focal lesions and fibrotic study of the structural properties of the kidneys. In general the benign lesion are presented deformable while the malignant lesion to be rigid. There are no reports in the veterinary use of this technique in the evaluation of mammary tumors in bitches and testicular and prostatic disease in dogs. The aim of this study is to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of elastography and qualitative quantitative (ARFI technique) in the differentiation of mammary tumors in female dogs.
