Abstract

The emergency of environmental problems and the enhanced efforts to establish a plural and embracing concept of food and nutrition security (FNS) leaded to the discussion about the urban agriculture issue, which includes community gardens. The purpose of this project is (re)learn the effectiveness and efficiency of the community gardens in promoting and ensuring of FNS. This is a systematic review of the literature which will include an extensive and judicious research of studies about the issue in several bibliographic data bases that consider the concepts of FNS, human right to food and public politics. After the initial search, the summaries will be evaluated by two reviewers (JRJ and JMO) according to the eligibility criteria, based in three aspects: design, implementation strategy of the garden and outcomes analyzed. The extraction of the data will be realized by a research (JRJ) after reading all the articles considered eligible and with methodological quality. In the case of the homogeneity among studies, meta-analysis will be performed. Regarding qualitative studies, if applicable metasynthesis will be used.
