Abstract

This study aims to investigate how the cerebral hemispheres use spatial frequency (SF) information at early stages of visual processing for face perception. Twenty volunteers (10 women) will participate in an emotional vs. neutral facial categorization task. Lateralized faces will be presented under two exposure times (50 or 150 ms) and three spatial filters (low-pass, high-pass or unfiltered). A three-way ANOVA will be performed on psychophysical parameter d' and response time, with exposure duration, SF content, and visual field of presentation as within-participant factors. The sample will be segmented by sex to check if there is any difference between men and women. (AU)
