Abstract

Starting from the crises of modernity that reach the contemporary religious field, this project proposes an analysis of the religious vocation of women, from the convent of the "Pobres Filhas de São Caetano," located in the town of Candido Mota, São Paulo, Brazil. Through the official data collection, participant observation, the ethnographic method and discourse analysis, we point out the relationship between the social construction of the vocation to be a nun through the new issues related to gender identity and male domination in this Catholic.
