Abstract

If there are techniques to help dancers in their creative performance, these techniques can serve as methods of learning about the creative process while the dancing body is in movement. However, one can never guarantee that this creative process, in fact, occurs. Why are some performers creators and others not? The ones who fail to be true creators may even have incorporated all required techniques, but they still remain constrained and inhibited in their performance, which prevents it from becoming creative. Theoretical and lab studies accomplished during my master research indicated that these barriers and inhibitionsmay be psychic, although they are manifested in the movement of bodily expression.Tocontinue this research in the directionof these indicators, this project will start from the study by Bonfitto (2011) of some the ater theoreticians that reflected on the actor's creative process. Some of these authors were also included in the work of Lobo and Navas (2003, 2008) about the work of bodily creation with dancerson stage. The key point of this research is to expand the work of Lobo and Navas by means of the exploration of the psychoanalytic concepts which are intrinsic, although unexplored, in their work and which seem able to explain how psychic barriers and inhibitions can acton the body. Besides thistheoretical research, the project aims to conduct interviews with flamenco bailaores and bailaoras who recognizably embody the creative gesture. The comparison of theoretical conclusions with the results of the interviews should provide answers to the question raised by this research project.
