Abstract

The PetMap® is a portable oscillometric blood pressure monitor that has been frequently employed in cats. This monitor allows the selection of specific algorithm to the animal species in which it is employed (cats or dogs), theoretically optimizing the accuracy of the measurements for the species in question. However, the agreement between blood pressure estimated by PetMap ® and blood pressure obtained by the direct method ("gold standard") in cats subjected to the condition of hypotension and hypertension is unknown. Objectives: To compare the portable oscillometric monitor (PetMap ®) and an oscillometric monitor (Digicare ®) regarding the ability of these monitors to correctly estimate the blood pressure values determined by the invasive method in cats.
