Abstract

The gripping force is a complex measure influenced by factors such as gender, age, motivation, muscle training, handedness, height, weight, socioeconomic variables, participation in specific sports or professions. It can be measured by hydraulic dynamometry, being the hydraulic Jamar ® one of the most commonly used, or by means of strain gauges as the load cells. Thus, the aim of this study is to evaluate the reliability of intra and inter examiner measurements of isometric grip force using the Jamar® dynamometer and a load cell device in healthy subjects and the validity of load cells as a measurement device for hand grip strength in patients. Randomiztion will be used to data collection. (AU)
