Abstract

Lettuce is considered the most important leaf, grown and consumed worldwide. Its cultivation generates income for small and medium producers, and move large amounts of resources in seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and labor. However, for a process of rural management, it is essential to evaluate the productive efficiency through Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), which will contribute to the identification of decision making unit (DMU) efficient, serving as models for inefficient units. This paper aims to analyze and evaluate the performance of systems lettuce production in the Ilha Solteira, São Paulo state, in order to verify the degree of productive efficiency. Methodologically, questionnaires will be applied to a sample of farmers in the county ranking efficient and inefficient, as the socio-cultural and technological profiles. After collecting the data, measures of efficiency for each DMU will be evaluated by the DEA technique, using the software SIAD 3.0 (Integrated System for Decision Analysis).
