Abstract

The research project directed aims to strengthen the studies on the origin and failure of the French mission. To achieve this goal, we will focus not only on diplomatic correspondence between Portugal, France and Brazil, but also in the documents left by one of the main characters of the French mission: Jean-Baptiste Debret. In three months we should visit Archives Diplomatique du Quai d'Orsay in seeking diplomatic correspondence between Portugal, France and Brazil and the Bibliothèque d'Art et d'Histoire Jacques Doucet to search the letter of Debret as well as additional materials that are of interest for the development of current research.
