Abstract

One of the characteristics of ubiquitous applications is being aware of context. In order to achieve this, these applications must be able to adapt their interfaces to better suit the different user's skills and abilities, considering the type and form on which the context if presented. The literature presents how to organize the needs and preferences in users' profiles - instantiated with data from various sources, such as sensors, mobile devices, semantic web technologies and social networks. For instance, Facebook is a social network that stores the user's preferences and personal information in its servers. As this personal information may reflect the needs and preferences of the users, it may be of interest for ubiquitous applications: with this data, an application could be tailored to reflect the needs and preferences of a specific user. This undergraduate research project aims to develop service that imports the data of a user profile data from Facebook. This data refers to users' preferences, such as their favorite music, movies, books and games, and basic information such as age, gender, education level and languages. The service will be available as a Web service and use of the Facebook Application Programing Interfaces (API) to import the data. This service is intended to be used by Who Am I? - a mobile application, currently in development, that stores users profiles and offers relevant user data for ubiquitous applications.
