Abstract

Information Science as an interdisciplinary field provides an essential theoretical framework for the study of informational culture and informational communication. From this perspective, is necessary to deepen the studies being conducted in this area, aiming to discuss and reflect on the theoretical and methodological understandings constructed during the existence of this scientific field. However, is evident that there is a certain lack about the studies directly focused on interdisciplinarity of Information Science, more specifically, in relation to their grants for studies on informational culture and informational communication. Thus, we seek to analyze the theoretical construction of Information Science area with regard to its interdisciplinarity, in order to highlight their contribution to the study of informational culture and informational communication. Presents an exploratory qualitative study, whose focus is exploring and rescue disseminated theoretical knowledge on the topic related to the Information Science field. Regarding the analysis of information collected, we opted for the research method 'Content Analysis', specifically the technique 'Categorical Analysis', since it allows to suggest inferences and interpretations concerning the proposed objectives in the research. It is believed that the search results may generate 'new' knowledge in the Information Science area to demonstrate the theoretical and methodological constructs afforded by this interdisciplinary concepts and approaches to informational culture and informational communication fields from the moment that the adopted investigation object.
