Abstract

The aim of this project is to examine Levis-Strauss critique of Freud in Totemism from a pesrpective established by the analysis of anthropological literature that appears in both authors, such as Durkheim, Mauss, Robertson Smith and Frazer. Such approach will enable us to shed light on the differences between Freudian psychoanalysis and structural anthropology relating to exogamy and totemism and to the question of the transition from nature to culture.
