Abstract

This project aims to analyze the participation of Zacarias Góes Vasconcellos, in the called Religious Question in the Second Reign between years 1872 and 1875. In a preliminary examination it can be verify that senator Liberal Party participated in the trial of Bishop of Olinda, Dom Vital as your lawyer. Insomuch, this study seeks explore the episode from the perspective of Political History, directing the focus to the motivation its participation, the repercussion at the Party and if this fact influenced the ruin of the imperial period. For this, will be used documents sundry, beyond publications related to approach, glimpsing a new understanding of the case and ruling relations the conflict, as well as relive the memory politic of Zacarias.
