Abstract

Considering the risk-benefit factor of the anticoagulants currently used, and especially the large number of patients requiring the use of these drugs, this project aims to isolate and characterize the anticoagulant and antiplatelet aggregation effects of peptides from Passiflora edulis and other fruits. Our proposal is to alert anticoagulated patients about the risks of consuming a particular fruit. Particularly, this project will investigate the effect of the compounds in the global blood coagulation parameters and platelet aggregation comparing with other previously isolated in our group.
