Abstract

Atrazine, an herbicide widely used to control weeds, is a potential contaminant of soil, groundwater, rivers, lakes and oceans, and has as main degradation pathway a biological pathway. The strain Pseudomonas sp. ADP is a bacterium of the reference atrazine mineralization process in contaminated environments because it has a plasmid called PADP -1, which contains the atza, atzB, atzC, atzD, atzE and atzF genes, which encode enzymes responsible for the degradation process of atrazine. The aim of this work is to obtain a bacterial isolated or a consortium of two or more bacteria with the capacity to total degradation of atrazine. For this, the isolates will be studied by molecular analysis of gene expression of atz genes and the functional analysis of the degradation of this herbicide by bacterial isolates, alone or after formation of consortia. This last step is performed by means of high pressure liquid chromatography with UV detection (HPLC / UV) and mass spectrometry (HPLC / MSMS). (AU)
