Abstract

This paper proposes an investigation with two broad objectives: a) to understand the processes experienced by the individual who stands as an artist to create a photographic representation of the city of Paraty and b) explore the relationship of resident and tourist to the town of Paraty. For this, the research participants, individuals residents or visitors of the city of Paraty, will be invited to take the place of artists and photographers haveing the city as their backdrop to answer the question: How is your Paraty? The material created by them will base tha research in combination with open interviews and notebook. This is a basic phenomenological qualitative research (Moreira, 2004), which speaks to the notion of autofotografia (Neiva, 1996) as a research method in an approach that looks for evidence of meaning. Is connected to the search Painting in Paraty: perception and social life, made by Arley Andriolo, at the Laboratory of Studies in the Psychology of Art - LAPA (IP / USP), with support from the Foundation for Research Support of the State of São Paulo (Regular Project, 2008/2009).
