Abstract

This project is related to a scholarship for Vinicius Domingos Guimarães de Campos. The main objective of this project is to contribute with the continuity of the studies on the mechanical behavior of thin films at the Laboratório de Fenômenos de Superfície of the Escola Politécnica da USP (LFS-EPUSP), particularly during the tensile testing of coated specimens. More specifically, the student will analyze the nucleation and propagation of cracks at the film itself or at the film/substrate interface. A part of the project will be dedicated to the maintenance of a small-scale tensile test rig, which was designed and built at the LFS-EPUSP. Once the current problems of the equipment are identified and corrected, it will be used in tensile tests, allowing the reproduction of tests conducted by a Masters student, as well as the conduction of tests to study the effect of deposition parameters not analyzed previously.
