Abstract

This project consists in a research about the voyeurism present in contemporary photography within the context of art. I try to develop it into two parallel parts but correspondent, so that they subsidize and therefore are not excluding or distinct. The first part aims at a critical/theoretical theme in order to contextualize it, surrounding it from different and complementary notions of voyeurism, coming from different areas of knowledge, such as Psychoanalysis, Sociology, Philosophy, and especially criticism itself and theory of art and photography. This contextualization allows meaningful analysis of the work of artists/photographers where voyeurism is present in heterogeneous ways, either through the process to which the photographer subjects him or herself, in the relationship between viewer and art work, or even in a subversive political activity involving surveillance systems and devices. The second part of this research will be made by developing a series of photographic works of poetic nature, performed with spy cameras and surveillance devices, in which concepts and references are again treated articulated, acting as mediators between the discursive field and the artistic object. The works to be carried out in the practical field unfold in works I have been doing since 2010, and they relate directly to the focus of the investigated object. (AU)
