Abstract

The proposed research aims at reflecting on Brazilian working classes in the triennial 2014-2016. In order to do that, it draws on previous research summarized in the candidate's doctoral work. In the foreground, the intention is to refine the meaning of the concept of peripheral subject, understood as the political action of the urban periphery resident by means of the term peripheral, based on belonging and recognising such condition.In addition to the elaboration of the abovementioned concept, such reflection on the working classes will be achieved by means of field work in which three main topics will be analysed: urban location as a social experience; artistic production as an expression of that urban experience and the political organization that is structured from this peripheral condition. Articulating and reinforcing the elaboration of the concept and the problematization of the three main topics mentioned before, the crisis of Lulism as a political paradigm will be analysed, as well as the crisis of social representations based on the labour world and the emergence of collective identities denoting urban problems, which have been expressed through a series of popular uprising around the world.Finally, through a comparative and multidisciplinary research, field works in French peripheries will be carried out in order to reflect on coincidences and discrepancies regarding the reality observed in São Paulo's peripheries, having as the main pivot axis between the two realities the triad: political organization, urban location and artistic production.
