Abstract

The anthropogenic influence on the environment has been growing steadily, legitimizing the importance of investigating the causes of stress to animals in natural systems in which they find themselves. Understanding the role of temperature on aquatic animals contributes significantly to the predictions of the effects on the population and community levels. The danios as they are popularly called, have numerous advantages for use in laboratory research as the low maintenance costs, low space requirement and fast reproductive cycle. Thus, this study aims to evaluate three different temperatures in ovarian development in D. aequipinnatus. Adult and female specimens will be obtained from commercial breeders in the region, directed to the Laboratório de Ictiologia Neotropical - Lineo, UNESP, Ilha Solteira, SP. For the experiment will be used 3 water storage tanks with a capacity of 250 L, maintained at 20ºC, 24ºC and 28ºC, with 40 fish in each tank. Five individuals of each treatment will be collected every three days, between 1º and 21º days after the start of the experiment. Their biometric data will be measured, the ovaries and livers removed and processed for histological and morphometric analysis by light microscopy. All data will be analyzed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) using the program R the significance level p>0:05. Thus the morphometric and morphological characterization of the developmental stages of germ cells, as well as the reproductive stages is fundamental to understanding how temperature acts in these processes.
