Abstract Paca has gained attention for several reasons such as the recent economic exploitation of the meat, giving it zoothecnical importance, and as a new experimental model to be applied in researches in human and veterinary fields. In this way, this study aims to detail the macroscopical and microscopical anatomy of the spleen of paca (Cuniculus paca, Linnaeus 1766), as well as establish the topography of this organ. It will be used five adult pacas, male and females, weighting five to 10 kg, from the Animal Wild Sector (FCAV, Unesp, Jaboticabal-SP). The animals will be fixed in paraformaldehyde 10%, followed by the localization and dissection of the spleen. The spleen fragments will be embedded in paraplast and processed by conventional histological procedures. The sections will be analysed under light microscope. | |
