Abstract

This research aims to producing a collection of historiographical information containing source material, which would enable not only a broad overview on the Brazilian Independence but also a systematic one. It would make it possible future developments in the study of the Brazilian Independence, more specifically, of the formation of the public sphere. The research consists of collecting and putting together information on the journals published in Brazil from 1808 to 1831. These journals can be considered as the manifestation of the public opinion of the people in the Portuguese colonies in the American continent.
