Abstract

From a critical perspective, this research has been analyzing since the second half of 2012, the ways in which political programs on climate change and payment for environmental services (PES) become reality in Brazil. This project analyzes the constitution of a "low-carbon economy" in the Amazon, specifically its deployment on land issues in Pará state. Therefore, we discuss the coexistences and antagonisms among the regular activities of rural communities - their economic uses and ways of living with the Amazonian forest (specifically timber and agriculture) - and the introduction of the current projects of "avoided deforestation" or REDD+ (AU)
