Abstract

Iron levels alterations are associated to obesity. In addition, adipose tissue has an iron overload during obesity, as well as, hepcidin expression was altered in adipose tissue macrophages. The exact role of these alterations is not fully understood. Thus, by using human monocyte differentiated in leptin presence as a model of adipose tissue macrophage, we intend to study the ability of this cells to express hepcidin, incorporate iron and contribute to local inflammation in adipose tissue.
