Abstract

Rodents include the largest and most diverse group of mammals, with over 1700 different species. Considering that the spotted paca (Cuniculus paca) as the second largest rodent in the Brazilian fauna, researches on these animals is becoming important, because there is a great interest in its trade creation, since they have excellent quality meat and they can likely become alternative to animal experimentation. Yet, as there is little detailed information about its morphology, the objective of this work is to describe the morphology of the kidney of this specie by macroscopic analysis and light microscopy.
