Abstract

The present project of doctoral internship aims to investigate, analyze and systematize the contributions of the Theory of Recognition of Axel Honneth and his latest thoughts on the importance of the group as an appropriate environment to formation of subjectivity. Since the publication of Struggle for Recognition, Honneth, through critical dialogue with its partners, has been improving and even modifying some of their initial positions. In Brazil, the reception of the ideas of Honneth still is at the beginning. The few debates that exist about his work are related to politics and the law. In Valencia, Spain, since 2005, a group of teachers and researchers have discussed the importance of Honneth contributions to education. Since the object of our research in Brazil is thinking a shift in formative processes, giving priority to the acceptance of differences and recognizing the authenticity of the other, it is vital to investigate the latest reflections of Honneth. In particular, his last work, Das Recht der Freiheit, constitutes a refinement of his Theory of Recognition and, in Brazil, there is not even predicting translation of this work. My hypothesis, for the purposes of research in Brazil is that it is essential to discuss my reading of the main concepts of Honneth and its contribution to education with a group of researchers who already has matured this approach for a long period. Methodologically, I will work with the texts of Honneth and commentators of his work in Spain and Europe. Moreover, I will make an interview with Honneth about the future of education in the context of complex and pluralistic societies. The supervision of this project will be the responsibility of Professors Doctors Francesc Jesús Hernàndez I Dobon e Benno Herzog of the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology, University of Valencia.
