Abstract

The aim of this research is to study the feasibility of reuse of the ashes produced by thermal treatment of waste from the treatment of municipal waste as mineral addition in the production on Portland cement mortars. The ashes will be produced by means of an uncontrolled combustion this waste, where parameters such as amount of waste and burning time and temperature will be measured. Compressive strength tests in mortars at 7, 28 and 90 days of curing at room temperature for different percentages of ashes in substitution of Portland cement (0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 25%, in mass) will be assessed. It is expected that an appropriate destination for this waste could be found.
