Abstract

The continuous use of herbicides with the same mechanism of action may lead to selection of weed species tolerant. Synedrellopsis grisebachii is a plant belonging to the family Asteraceae, commonly found in pastures and perennial crops in the Central South and Central West region of Brazil and is considered a species tolerant to glyphosate. Knowledge of the mechanisms of tolerance is the extreme importance for the development of control strategies for this species. Thus, the objectives of this research are: a) evaluate the response of Synedrellopsis gricebachii to the application of glyphosate, b) study the leaf anatomy of this species and to analyze the effect of the herbicide on the same c) quantify the accumulation of shikimate in plants treated with herbicide. The control of this species will be assessed by the dose-response curves, performed at three stages of plant development (1-2 knots, 4-6 and 7-8 in the main branch node), conducted under different lighting conditions (full sun and 70 % shade). The characterization of the leaf surface will be conducted through observation under optical microscope and analyzed by scanning electron microscopy. The quantification and characterization of the epicuticular wax is performed by colorimetric analysis and thin layer chromatography. The data will be submitted to analysis of variance by F test, and the averages are compared by Tukey test at 5% probability. (AU)
