Abstract

This work proposes the study of musical rhetoric figures, considered one important musical systematization of the Baroque period, about the twelve movements of the work Gloria in D major, RV 589 (1716) by Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741). This project focuses on the part of the choir, taking as its starting point the important compilation of musical rhetoric present in the work Musica Poetica : Musical Rhetorical Figures in German Baroque Music (1997 ) by Dietrich Bartel, and treated in time related. Bartel this study introduces the concept and definition of musical rhetoric applied music practiced in the Baroque period, and transcribe the musical rhetoric figures of the most important musical treatises of this period. This study will focus also in research and analysis of the figures of musical rhetoric and procedures musical composition from the Baroque period, in order to understand theoretically as expresses the relationship between sounds and words, and so, specify how was the job of musical rhetoric figures by Vivaldi.
