Abstract

This project aims to conduct an internship at the Centre de Recherches sur le Brésil Colonial et Contemporain (CRBC), located in Paris/France, with three main purposes: 1) To gather crucial documents for the development of this doctoral research; 2) To conduct cultural and intellectual exchanges with this renowned institution (participation in seminars and discussion groups); 3) To have support from the CRBC and supervision of Professor Monica Schpun to analyze the museographic exhibitions of the Musée de l' Homme .The analysis of the Musée de l' Homme, located in Paris, was expected on this doctoral research and aims to understand how it produces and disseminates speeches about man and humanism. In other words, how this institution articulates in their expositions categories of gender , religion or appearance (amongst others) to provide a universal human speech .The research will be conducted through the study of material culture and written sources, which comprise the bibliography already published on the Musée de l' Homme - articles and works about its creation and history - and its institutional documents (not available on the internet, but stored in Parisians archives and libraries). The analysis of the material culture, in turn, will be carried out through the study of the permanent exhibitions ever organized by the museum to demonstrate how the material culture articulation can also generate discourses. Therefore, the implementation of many visits to the Musée de l' Homme collection is extremely necessary. (AU)
