Abstract

This research project aims to point out the need to conduct an abroad internship research focused on the documentary research and bibliographic able to broaden the discussions held by the current Master thesis entitled "Trade, prestige goods and insignia of power: the African Western central agencies in the travel accounts of Henrique de Carvalho in his expedition to the Lunda (1884-1888)". In this sense, although this possibility haven't been proposed in the initial project, we believe that contact with the documents concerning the Portuguese expeditions to the regions of Central Africa in the late nineteenth century, particularly the writings of Henrique de Carvalho about his Expedition towards Lunda, existing in the archives Historic, museums and libraries of Lisbon, will enable us to incorporate new approaches and advance the issues raised during the ongoing study.
