Abstract

The Agricultural Intensification process can be understood as any practice that increases agricultural production in the same area, without leaving aside issues such as food security, sustainability and biodiversity. In this context, EMBRAPA has developed in partnership with the Group for Studies and Research in Terminology (Portuguese acronym GETerm) the INTAGRO project (Agricultural Intensification in Poles of Soybean and sugarcane production: Territoriality, Sustainability and Competitiveness), "which proposed the integration of several approaches aiming at searching for answers in the integrated vision of the agri-environmental and socioeconomic plans" (PIEROZZI Jr. et al., 2010). One of the fronts of this project was the knowledge organization through the systematization of terms/concepts from this area. So, as a continuation of INTAGRO project and the Embrapa-GETerm partnership, this scientific initiation project is proposed, aiming the elaboration of definitions of terms already identified as representing the area. The wording of the definitions will be theoretically based on a descriptive Terminology of linguistic basis which recommends, in addition to the numerous requirements that must compose a terminological definition, that the definitory text must be sufficiently clear and complete so that the consultant understands and that the product being generated meets the primary function of facilitating communication. From the methodological point of view, this research will be based on a sequence of steps to be prepared in the virtual free collaborative environment of terminology management "e-Terms" (www.etermos.cnptia.embrapa.br). It is expected, in the end, the drafting of a set of 50 definitions to be incorporated into other INTAGRO results and that, surely, are of fundamental importance in the development of applications and resources for the information and knowledge management of Brazilian agriculture.
