Abstract

The aquatic environment requires the development of balanced diets that can provide the necessary nutrients to animals who live on this. Moreover, this also requires that these same diets have desirable physicochemical characteristics, which, for example, provider greater stability, as well as maintaining quality in order lower the loss of nutrients through leaching. Thus, the use of nutritional strategies such as the use of new ingredients combined with the different types of processing, aiming to better feed efficiency, lower costs and higher productivity is needed. An ingredient to be quoted is the grits a coproduct of corn feedstock in industrial production expanded by extrusion. Therefore, based on the above, the objective of this study is to investigate what is the best level of inclusion of grits in diets with high protein level, that lead to pellets with desirable physicochemical properties in aquaculture industry. This will be prepared five diets with 28% PD and 3200 ED, in which the corn bran will be replaced by grits on the treatments with their respective inclusion levels: TG 0: 0.0%; TG 4: 4.0%; TG 8: 8.0%; TG 12: 12.0% and TG 16: 16.0%. Following will be assessed: float capacibility, leaching losses, pellet hardness and time of maximum turgidity. The research will be conducted in a completely randomized design, and the data will be submitted to analysis of variance (P <0.05) and complemented by Tukey's multiple comparison test. When they do not enter in the normal curve, will be submitted to a non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis and complemented with comparisons by Mann-Whitney test.
