Abstract Recently, the investigation of light-matter interaction in ultrastrong and deep strong coupling regimes has revealed novel counterintuitive physical phenomena. In this research internship abroad we will study some relevant cases concerning the ultrastrong and the deep strong coupling regimes of the quantum Rabi model in the presence of dissipation, especially in the context of circuit quantum electrodynamics, since superconducting qubits are promising candidates for future quantum applications on a chip. For example, one of the cases under consideration is the study of stable Schrödinger's cat states, as, under certain conditions, the ground state of the quantum Rabi model is related to those states, so that dissipation will lead the system to such states instead of destroy them as typically occurs in the protocols for generating non-classical states.
