Abstract

The main goal of the presented research is to discuss the Soviet Union crisis, seeking to have a study on the literature produced until now, focusing especially on economic factors. The project focuses specifically on the period from 1985 to 1991, during Gorbachev's government, when changes took place in an Economy that was, until then, planned - changes that were determinant for the consolidation of the economic crisis. It also aims to consider divergences between authors about this theme. This paper's purpose is based on how important it is to keep studying the Soviet Union to understand its peculiarities. It is hoped that the results of this study will help to understand the role that Russia plays today in the international context and its constant pursuit of recreating the profile of a global "superpower" - role which it sustained during the period of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
