Abstract

Some studies have been performed in search of a better understanding of the role of the endocannabinoid system in the sleep cycle. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of administration of cannabidiol in the sleep of healthy volunteers subjected to transient insomnia model, generated by changes in the sleep cycle environment. A sample of 30, selected according to the eligibility criteria will be subject studied. Participants will be paired according to sex, age, socioeconomic status, and education. Half the volunteers will receive a dose of CBD and the other half placebo. The CBD or placebo will be administered 30 minutes before the start time of the exam. The recordings of polysomnography (PSG) will be held for eight hours. Each individual will undergo polysomnography. The results of this project will contribute to a greater understanding of the potential effects of CBD in the sleep cycle, specifically, in a model of transient insomnia.
