Abstract

The increasing process flow of goods and people started in the '80s and expanded over the years of 90 and 2000, generating the idea that the Nation-State borders and sovereign issues would fall into disuse. This, added to the fact that non-state actors have increased their importance in the international political scenario would have weakened the State according to some scholars, especially in face of transnational criminal organizations. However, this study aims to show that not only the State is far from being a "victim" or be weakened, as it, uses these same actors to expand its political power and maintain its sovereignty and influence.
