Abstract

Chronic Lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is characterized by a clonal accumulation of mature neoplastic B cells that are resistant to apoptosis. Ikaros is considered an important regulator of lymphoid development and differentiation. Several reports reinforce the hypothesis that Ikaros expression is deregulated in human leukemias. Patients with CLL can be categorized in 2 subsets on the basis of immunoglobulin heavy chain variable region (IGHV) gene mutation status. The expression of zap-70 and some recurrent genomic alterations are also prognostic markers. Considering this, herein we purpose to investigate the expression of Ikaros in the B-CLL, and also correlate those prognostic factors to Ikaros expression.
