Abstract

The safflower is an oilseed crop that has attracted of the national agriculture interest, because in addition to being an alternative source for the production of oil and biodiesel, is presented as an option for growing the second crop, the period in which the lower water availability becomes the cultivation of other risky species with high possibility of failure. However, there are few studies on its cultivation in various soil management systems and aspects related to its mineral nutrition. In this sense, this work aim to evaluate growth, grain yield, nutrient accumulation and export by two genotypes of safflower as affected by nitrogen fertilization on established no-tillage system and newly implemented no-tillage system. The experiment will be conducted in Botucatu-SP, at a clay-textured typic rhodudalf soil. The design will be adopted in the randomized block split-split plot design with four replications. The plots are composed of established no-tillage (29 years of deployment) and newly implemented no-tillage. The subplots comprised two genotypes of safflower (IMA 2234 IMA and 2237), and the split by two nitrogen rates (0 and 100 kg ha-1). The variables will be evaluated: leaf area, leaf area index, accumulation and distribution of shoot dry matter, content and accumulation of nutrients in plant organs (stem, leaf and inflorescence); yield components (plant population, number of head per plant, average number of grains per head, average mass of 1000 grains), grain yield, harvest index and nutrient export. The data will be submitted to analysis of variance. The treatment means are compared by T (DMS) test at 5% probability. With the results of the variables of growth and nutrient accumulation fit a mathematical model will take place. The equations are obtained to describe the variation in time of the variables. (AU)
