Abstract In this research plan, specimens Perlidae (Plecoptera) will be collected in Intervales State Park (PEI), State of São Paulo in order to: 1) identify morphologically the species of Perlidae from PEI and to obtain the sequences of the mitochondrial gene COI for each of them; 2) obtain the relationship between adult and nymph using sequences of the mitochondrial gene COI; 3) train students in aquatic entomology specifically on the use of morphological and molecular tools in biodiversity studies. The sampling will be carried out in streams of PEI using D net in the case of nymphs, and nets and light traps for adults. The specimens will be placed in absolute alcohol and stored in a freezer (-20). The species will be identified morphologically based on adult males and subsequently characterized based on the mitochondrial gene COI. Additionally, nymphs will be separated into morphotypes and also be characterized in relation to this gene. Subsequently the sequences are compared in an attempt to associate nymphs and adults.
