Abstract

The term information presents different meanings depending on the context it is used. Nowadays, it assumes a special importance in the legal field, especially because of the Brazilian Law of Access to Information which has been offering a great impact in Information studies, mainly in archives. In this vein, and considering that the day-by-day legal requests occur dynamically and frequently in the Courts , it aims to identify and to analyze the thematic dimensions of the term information in Brazilian Jurisprudence, especially by means of the content analysis (Bardin, 2008) of its presence in Supreme Court cases along eight years (four before and four after the publication of the Brazilian Law of Access to Information).
