Abstract

For Durkheim, the constitution of sociology as scientific discipline demands a collective work which requires the mapping of sociology territory in addition to recruiting specialists and the definition of presuppositions and concepts framework sufficiently general and flexible to guide research. In this sense, the expression Durkheimian school means not only historical reference to the researchers group formed by Durkheim around the "Année sociologique", but essentially the commitment of these researchers in a common intellectual project. Recognizing the disregard of the collective dimension of Durkheimian tradition and, mainly, the absence of an interpretative framework for analyzing the links between general presuppositions that characterize collaboration between researchers and specific theories that they produced, the proposal of this study is to investigate the collaboration between Durkheim and Mauss within the general framework of the Durkheimian school division of labor. For this, we selected a set of Durkheim and Mauss studies regarding religious phenomena, taking as reference the "sociologie religieuse" section of "Année sociologique" first series that we define as "sociologie religieuse" research program. Therefore, the aim of this study is to investigate the collaboration between Durkheim and Mauss in "sociologie religieuse" research program undertaken through the "Année sociologique" between the years 1898 and 1913.
