Abstract

This project aims to analyze the effects of the Growth Acceleration Program's (PAC) hydroelectric in force in the second term of President Lula (2007-2010) and in the first term of President Dilma Rousseff (2011-2014) built in the Amazon. We believe that this program has changed many political, economic, territorial and social dynamic in the country as part of the political project of one legend that when the current mandate ends, complete twelve years in power. Thus, the general aim is to understand the effects of the Growth Acceleration Program on Brazilian territory, having as object of discussion the dams construction in the Amazon territory, as a materialization of a political project of Lula and Dilma, and thereby understand new developmentalism as a forward strategy of advance and implementation of government actions against the economic dynamics that demand such investments. Our methodology consists in a theoretical and documentary literature, research in databases IBGE, IPEA, BNDES and other institutions, analysis of official reports released by the Government for the PAC, interviews with political and economic agents linked to the implementation of PAC projects and representatives of civil society, and fieldwork in locations that receive works and in government institutions.
