Abstract

In a previous study, guided by the behavioral approach, Guazi and Laurenti (2015) investigated some contingencies that affect the university academic production. The data - obtained throughout interviews with academic professors with productiveness scholarships granted by the CNPq - have indicated both the presence of positive reinforcement contingencies maintaining the "activity of researching" and the presence of natural and positive reinforcers and statements about the feeling of pleasure in performing this activity. However, the interviewees are senior researchers that were exposed early in their careers to different institutional contingencies from those nowadays contingencies. CAPES data highlight a significant growth in number of researchers who work in the country and a significant increase in Brazilian scientific production in recent decades. It is front of this context that several studies, when discussing university teaching, denounce the academic productivism, the increasing competitiveness in academia, the journey intensified work of academic professor and the numerous biopsychologicals problems found in this population. In this sense, the beginning academic professor, who entered contemporaneously at the university, seem to be a generation of researchers with a different profile. Considering these aspects, this study attempts to identify the differences and similarities between the variables that control the "behavior of researching" of senior academic professors and beginners, and test the results of the research conduced by Guazi and Laurenti (2015). Participate in this exploratory research, six academic professors with productiveness scholarships granted by the CNPq who work in the fields of Psychology, Genetics and Physics. The data will be collected throughout interviews and will be analyzed accordingly to the Behavior Analysis interpretation method. This research aims to contribute to the understanding of contemporary scientific practices and give visibility to Behavior Analysis of contributions to the understanding of this subject. (AU)
