Abstract

This project aims to gather and organize the available data, registers, newspapers and another echoes/fragments of the emblematic years that the Chinese painter Zhng Dàqin ( 'C)lived in Brazil. Focusing in the art exhibitions realized here with his participation and/or his artworks, as well as the repercussion that this events had in the Brazilian press and society of that period. The project aims to lay the foundations for a critical analysis of how the Brazilian artistic circuit dealt with the unusual presence of one of the greatest Chinese traditionalist painters of the modern China in one of the most productive periods of his long carrer, and how the artist itself lived in the country that welcomed him for about 17 year and the repercussion of this events today. The material will be gathered in archives of museums, galleries, press institutions, private collections and interviews with scholars and people who met the artist in the years that he lived here, the gathering of this data aims to reconstruct and preserve the memory of the passage of this great master in Brazil.
