Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the productive and economic characteristics, and bone quality of broiler chickens subjected to nutritional plans for regular, medium or higher performance in two seasons, hot and cold. This, two experiments will be conducted and in each, 2,400 broilers are used, two commercial strains obtained one day of age and equally distributed between treatments. The experiment design will be randomized blocks allocated in a 2x3 factorial arrangement (Cobb® 500 and Ross® 308 strains and requirements for regular , medium or higher performance). The birds will be assessed for performance, and economic analysis will be based on this data. The incidence of metabolic diseases will be registered and the birds that refugarem will be discarded. Such birds are necropsied and evaluated also to femoral degeneration (FD), dyschondroplasia tibial (DT), spondylolisthesis (SPO) and appearance and weight of the heart, liver and lung. The gait score (GS) will be assessed at 34 and 41 days. At 36 and 43 days, 144 birds (three birds / repeat / treatment) will be slaughtered and their carcasses and parts weighed to yield determination. Carcasses will be classified according to the presence or absence of scratches as well as the number of scratches. Also will be evaluated locomotor problems (FD, DT and SPO), Seedor index (SI), bone strength (BS) and black bone syndrome (BBS). The observed correlations will be between production traits (body weight, weight gain and carcass weight) and other traits. The data will be statistically analyzed using the SAS 9.2 program.
