Abstract The objective of this proposal is to introduce the student into the area of optical communications, with emphasis on the physical layer, by studying the Orbital Angular Moment modes that propagate through free-space, fibers and integrated silicon waveguides, taking as references the present literature. The goal of this study is to explore the Orbital Angular Moment as an additional degree of freedom for the multiplexation/demultiplexation of the transmitted information in optical communication systems, aiming to increase their capacity in an expressive manner. Special attention will be given to the aspects that make viable the integration of those modes' generation, multiplexation/demultiplexation, and fiber-waveguide coupling stages. | |
